Jo Joyner: EastEnders' Tanya Branning heading to Channel 5 with Angela Griffin and Tamzin Outhwaite
EastEnders legend Jo Joyner is leaving Albert Square to join former co-stars Angela Griffin and Tamzin Outhwaite in a brand new Channel 5 drama.
The three actresses will star in a six-part series called The Night Of The Party, which tells the story of a group of friends whose lives are turned upside down after a party ends in tragedy.
Joyner will play the role of Ellie, a successful lawyer who is struggling to come to terms with the death of her husband. Griffin will play the role of Bella, a single mother who is trying to rebuild her life after a difficult past. Outhwaite will play the role of Liv, a successful businesswoman who is hiding a dark secret.
The series will be written by Olivier-nominated playwright Levi David Addai and directed by BAFTA-winning director China Moo-Young. It is expected to air on Channel 5 later this year.
Joyner said she was "excited" to be joining the cast of The Night Of The Party. "It's a really great script and I'm really looking forward to working with Angela and Tamzin again," she said.
Griffin said she was "thrilled" to be working with Joyner and Outhwaite again. "We're all really good friends and we've always wanted to work together again," she said.
Outhwaite said she was "delighted" to be joining the cast of The Night Of The Party. "It's a really exciting project and I can't wait to start filming," she said.
The Night Of The Party is the latest in a string of high-profile signings for Channel 5. The channel has recently acquired the rights to a number of popular dramas, including Cold Feet, The Good Karma Hospital, and All Creatures Great and Small.
